We do realize that it has been a while since last blogg. But even after 3 months in africa we still don't have enough patience to use this computer on a regular basis but today the sun is shining and we got some extra energy for the fight.
Since last time you heard from the giraffe and hippo we have had a massive celebration of the giraffes half year birthday (11.11). The lovely saturday included a specially imported bottle of Barolo (TAK Ilija), knorr's spaghetti carbonara, home baked bread (italian\african style), a Betty Crocker supermoist choc.cake and a present wrapped in a bananaleaf. All in all a good evening.
Last week we had 4 days of from work and went to the "city" also known as Kigoma.
First day we spent travelling in a truck (the hospital car wasn't working so we hitched a ride) on what was supposed to be roads but was more like a mudpile.
We spent a day with Joy in the harvest, which is an voluntery organisation based in Kigoma. They do loads of different work for poor and homeless people. They showed us some of the different projects including housing of homeless and crippled people, outhanding of free food for street people and medical help to these people. We first heard of this organisation because they paid the hospital bill for some of our patients here. It was a great day with many emotions and alot of inspiration.
The other days we spent visiting friends we have made in Kigoma and went second hand shopping at the local marked... good fun!
Friday we went back home to Heri hospital by a private plane (almost jet - at least it seats 5 people..). Imagine us with our handbags and sunglasses (we had after all been to the city for a couple of days), in Kigoma airport (read dirt airstrip) waiting for Andy the pilot to get our jet ready and can you believe this we had to wait!!!!!! JUST because some, probably unimportant massive UN helicopter had to take off to DRC (Congo). Anyway off we went and 15 min. later we landed at Heri Hospital with an audience of about 400 people (yeah we know how to draw attention to ourselves)...
Now we are back at the hospital and things are good here. We have only few days left, next thursday we leave this wonderful place for this time around.
We are making the most of our last days enjoying the good company and doing very long rounds every day because we spent half the time playing with the kids and making chickens out of plastic gloves.
That is all for now, we will try to put some more photos on the blogg when we find a computer that actually works at a almost normal speed...

Jeg tager til Island den 20.dec (tror jeg) så vi kunne måske ses om aftenen den 19... I må endelig ringe til mig når I er landet så vi kan finde ud af det.
